There had been too many emotions and questions tied up with Gabe's disappearance; he'd blamed Gabe for the repercussions he'd had to face, but he blamed himself for scaring Gabe away. He doesn't know what he would have done if he'd found out Gabe ended up hurt, or worse, after he'd ran.
